La Plagne Set To Unveil New ‘Centre’

Published : 14-Nov-2018 11:07

One of Europe's most visited ski resorts will unveil a new look to one of its original villages, Plagne Centre, this winter.

The redesigned centre, one of 10 village bases at the resort, will, "feature a lively village square with a multi-service activity centre, panoramic view bar, four-lane bowling alley and ice-skating rink," a resort spokesperson said.

Plagne Centre was also one of the first of the then new concept of French high-altitude mountain resorts built in the 1960s at the advent of the 'era of the 'mass market' ski holiday.

Selling over 2.5m skier days last season, and with an accommodation capacity of over 55,000 people (the largest in the Alps), La Plagne is the world's busiest ski resort.

It is also part of the huge Paradiski area with the skiing of nearby Peisey Vallandry and Les Arcs linked to provide over 425 km of groomed runs including two skiable glaciers at over 3,000m.
