Mammoth Mountain Announces Ski Season Will Run to 4th July, 2019

Mammoth Mountain in California has announced that snowsports will continue to at least July this year following huge snowfalls over the past few weeks.
The American ski centre, which currently has the deepest base in North America at more than 5 metres, says it will be open to at least the US Independence Day holiday.
The resort has had more than 11 metres of snow so far this season and it is snowing again heavily now after a huge storm at the start of the month deposited 3 metres (10 feet) of snow in just four days.
Mammoth has one of the world's longest ski season and often stays open to June, July or August but doesn't always announce it will stay open so long into the year so early in the year.
Part of the early announcement may be tied to Mammoth's position in one of the two big American multi-resort season ski passes, the Icon Pass. These are the big sales battleground for the multi-resort owning US groups at present and whilst both continue to add more resorts to the list covered by their passes, a new front has opened on the grounds of how long the passes can offer snowsports.
Vail Resorts have recently announced that their Keystone resort in Colorado, part of their Epic Pass offering, will open from October in future after a big snowmaking investment, and that Breckenridge will stay open at least to the end of May each winter from now on.
