Campo Imperatore

One of the highest centres in L'Aquila province, located close to the Corno Grande ( 2914 M ) the highest peak in the Italian peninsular. The centre has great expert runs of 1000m when snow cover is adequate. Snow reliability suffers from southerly exposure and base altitude. Mussolini was jailed in the mountain hotel and there is a famous astronomical observatory here.

The Italian ski resort of Campo Imperatore is in the Apennines at an altitude of 1,980m.

Campo Imperatore has direct access to 10 marked pistes, served by a total of 4 ski lifts.

The ski resort itself is at 1,980m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With ski lifts as high as 2,187m, snow cover is generally reliable.

There is skiing to suit a range of abilities.
