Published : 27-Oct-2011 05:20
The start of this week brought fresh snow to parts of the Eastern and Northern Alps, with temperatures briefly dipping as the snow fell. Localized accumulations of up to 30cm were reported. Fresh snows also blessed some of the North American ski areas.European Weather and Snow This Coming Week
The current clear and settled weather predominating across The Alps is expected to continue for the next few days, until the end of the month. Temperatures are a little milder than the seasonal average.
The latest updates from the forecast models suggest colder weather for the beginning of November, coinciding with more unsettled conditions - and an increasing likelihood of significant precipitation. We're still too far out to be sure just yet, but current indications are that the snow line should be below 1,800 metres in the Northern Alps by this time next week.
The situation should be much clearer for our next update.
