Snowy Start to July in Australia

It has been a snowy start to July in Australia with ski areas reporting up to 30cm of fresh snow over the past few days.
The snow has come as a welcome relief after one of the two warmest Junes this century last month – June is when the Australian ski season officially gets going each year.
Snow depths are still down on what they really need to be to open much terrain at most areas, but it is expected to continue snowing through the weekend and in to next week so bases should continue to build for the time being.
Mt Buller reports the deepest base at 39cm, with another 20cm expected by the end of Sunday. It has 6 runs (of more than 40) and 7 lifts (of more than 20) operating.
The country's biggest area, Perisher (pictured above this morning), has the most runs open, 25 of more than 130. 21 of its 47 lifts are operating.
