Summer Snow Show Tonight in Alta Badia

Summer Snow Show Tonight in Alta Badia

Published : 17-Aug-2017 10:13

Italy's Alta Badia ski area in the Dolomites will see some fancy ski demos on real snow this evening with the return of "The Summer Ski Show" after its successful debut last year.

After the main event, children are invited to take some ski lessons and have fun in the snow.

Organised by instructors from the Ski & Snowboard School La Villa and taking place on a slope by the ski school offices in the village, the event is organised using snow stockpiled and saved from last winter and Lucifer's heat by a special protective cover.

During the show itself this evening (Thursday, August 17th), La Villa's ski and snowboard instructors will be covering the history of skiing, through to the modern day, with the evolution of skiing techniques and the celebration of the Alpine Ski World Cup, which since 1985 has been hosted on the local Gran Risa slope, one of the most technically-challenging on the Ski World Cup circuit.

Using the memories of one of the pioneers of the Ski School, Edoardo Agreiter, as their guide, big TV screens and the instructors' display on the slope will illustrate the progress of the skier, from novice child, to the instructor exam, through to modern-day skiing activities.

The special guest of the evening is Davide Simoncelli who won the Ski World Cup Giant Slalom on the Gran Risa slope in 2003.

The whole show will be accompanied by music and special lighting effects and there'll also be a jumps display by local freestyle ski group "The Pirates".

At the end of the evening, children will get the chance to rent ski equipment, so as to try the thrill of downhill skiing in the middle of summer, accompanied by the ski instructors of the Ski & Snowboard School La Villa.

As for any respectable event on snow, much thought will be given to the après-ski, set up in a kiosk, equipped in keeping with the theme, for the party to continue.
