An accident on the Cime de Caron cable car on Tuesday may affect Val Thorens' opening weekend plans.
At least eight workers were injured, two seriously, after an accident that occurred at around 7.30am on 19 November.
The accident happened during challenging weather conditions when one of the cable cars crashed into the top station at 3195m while carrying 16 workers.
According to officials, emergency responders evacuated the injured workers using a nearby gondola.
François Ravier, the prefect for the Savoie region, said the injured had been transferred to hospitals in Annecy and Grenoble. He did not give any details about the cause of the accident.
"It is too early to know the exact circumstances that led to this accident," Ravier said. "We will have to wait for the preliminary results of the investigation."
The Saulire cable car in Courchevel was damaged in an accident during testing in 2021. That cable car is due to re-open next month.
