Vaujany

This sleepy hamlet derives much of its income from having a major (but unobtrusive) hydro-electric dam nearby. The funds have been invested in exceptionally good lift-infrastructure including what was the world's largest cable-car.

The French ski resort of Vaujany is in the French Alps at an altitude of 1,250m, with 46km of marked runs.

Vaujany is part of the Alpe d’Huez grand domaine Ski area with access to 389km of downhill skiing, with 304 marked pistes, served by a total of 150 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in Vaujany itself (46km of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Alpe d’Huez grand domaine Ski ski resorts of Alpe d'Huez, Auris-en-Oisans, Oz-en-Oisans and Villard Reculas.

With ski lifts as high as 3,300m, skiing and snowboarding is assured throughout the season.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Vaujany is Grenoble, 82 minutes drive away.

Chambery, Lyon St-Exupéry, Lyon Bron, Annecy, Geneva, Saint-Étienne and Avignon airports are all within three hours drive.

The 19 ski lifts are able to uplift 14,000 skiers and snowboarders every hour.

Snow-making is available, on 33km of ski runs, with 444 snow cannons.

 Opened : 7 December 2019.

Usual opening is early December, and usual closing is Late April.
